Game 11 Recap - NYY 4, BOS 1

What a game last night as the Yankees won the most important game of the series setting themselves up nicely to win the series or possibly sweep.

I was at the game last night and had great seats a few rows back from A-Rod on the third base line. Chien-Ming Wang was dominant and is quickly quieting his critics who don’t believe he is a true ace or that he is capable of being a Number 1.

Even Mad Dog today was having a hard time not giving Wang credit today, but being his usual self Mad Dog still shot down the fact that Wang is an “ace.”

The offense looked good for the second straight night, except for the one time they had the chance to blow the game open with the bases loaded, but a base running blunder by Alberto Gonzalez ruined it. The Yankees keep missing on their chance to put the game out of reach, and eventually it will catch up to them.

Jose Molina continues to produce as an everyday player and has become even more valuable to the team than anyone ever thought possible. Once Posada takes his job back, the Yankees now have an effective bat off the bench in Molina if the situation presented itself where they needed a righty in the future. They no longer have to worry about not having enough bench players.

Hideki Matsui continues to get on base and is by far the team’s best hitter right now, so it would be hard for Cashman to use him in a trade at some point in this season if Matsui can keep up his production and be the big time hitter he has been since 2003.

Melky Cabrera’s offense is getting better with every game as every ball he hit last night was hit hard, but a few times just happened to go right at people. With already two home runs in the season, it looks like Melky will continue to blossom into a great major league outfielder considering the fact that he is still only

Today Mike Mussina tries to extend the winning streak to three and clinch the series against Boston, though he was 0-2 against Boston last season and his lines were pretty. Boston will put the same team he saw last season on the field today (minus Mike Lowell) and the Moose will have to be on his best game to shut down this offense who was held to two hits last night (one was a bunt). I can’t say I expect much from the Moose, but it would nice to just get a quality start today (6 IP, 3 ER) and hopefully the Yankees hit around a rusty Josh Beckett.
